OPENING DAY!
April
30, 2006
After postponing the parade a week due to poor weather, a sea of players
waits for the command to march.
An unexpected yet scenic detour through the construction site of the
town's new Senior Center.
The parade winds through downtown Chepachet....

...with nearly no end in sight.
Over 500 players gather around the Acotes infield ready for the ceremony
to begin.
An estimated total of over 1,500 people are in attendance.
GLL President Eric James and VP John Mack welcome friends, guests
and players.
The GLL's Challenger Division Players, buddies and parents look on.
Eric distributes buckets to the "bucket brigade" of player
volunteers who will be collecting for the Tomorrow Fund
in honor of GLL player Freddy Benedetti.
Dave Santos receives a special recognition award for his donation
of time, manpower and supplies
used to construct our new dugouts.
"Volunteer of the Year" awards are presented to Peter Mathieu,
Mark Walsh, and Steve O'Neill.
Freddy's mom Maria addresses the crowd and tells everyone Freddy's
story.
Freddy's friends honor his memory by throwing put the first pitch
of the 2006 season.
Catchers stand ready to receive the throws.
Eric presents Maria with an autographed baseball signed by several
of Freddy's teammates.

Eric also receives an autographed baseball in honor of his many years
of service to the Glocester Little League.
